Now, the surprising part is that Google is hosting an event in the
morning of June 6 to give people of the press a sneak peak of their
upcoming version of Google Maps and their vision behind it. The company
is planning on giving a demo of its latest technology and features of
Google Maps. 9to5Google
had the invitation as well that read, “At this invitation-only press
gathering, Brian McClendon, VP of Google Maps and Google Earth, will
give you a behind-the-scenes look at Google Maps and share our vision.
We’ll also demo some of the newest technology and provide a sneak peek
at upcoming features that will help people get where they want to go –
both physically and virtually. We hope to see you there.”
It’s important to note that in the midst of all this, Apple is
planning to hold an event on June 11, where they plan to showcase their
own version of Maps, instead of their reliance on Google Maps. It is
believed that in order to signify the new rewrite to the Maps app, Apple
have also redesigned the logo for the app and the logo will now feature
the view of their 1 Infinite Loop Campus, but with a colour scheme that
is different. While no word has been revealed on Apple’s maps and their
features, we can be pretty sure that Google has planned something
pretty revolutionary as well, as they have been consistently improving
the Maps experience worldwide.
