The best 5 apps for Android

It is time-consuming to keep up with everything that the application stores offer for your smartphone or tablet, that's why we rounded up a few of the good apps that were outed in the week ending yesterday - May 20-27.

Things were not terribly exciting in Play Store land last week, with no new big titles being published, but a few top-notch games and some quality themes and add-ons surely caught our attention.

Have a look at five of those apps we hand-picked for you, and by all means share if you had experience with something very interesting that came to life last week, and didn't make the cut in the slideshow below.

The "Mass"-ive (450MB) game comes from the EA folks that brought you the amazing Dead Space. Tricky controls in Mass Effect 3: Infiltrator aside, it certainly shows that mobile games have come to console level in terms of graphics and game plot.

You can move freely through the vast compounds of the Cerberus base, upgrade your equipment and add special skills that help you survive the gritty "me against the world" atmosphere.

Songify defies the skepticism about its speech-to-song performance with the very first tryouts, allowing you to turn your lyrics or regular speech into catchy tunes.

You can see the funny results in the promo video on the left, but be forewarned that things could turn quite silly, yet hilarious with this free speech-to-song app.

For those of you rocking a CyanogenMod 9 or AOKP ROM (we know there are many), this theme will turn your phone into an HTC Sense 4.0 device. If you love HTC's new streamlined, pretty and functional interface, you'd find the best way to experience it short of buying an HTC One series phone is with Theme Sense 4.

The new Towers N' Trolls game is, as you can quickly guess, a tower defense title, which combines the beloved genre with the ever-popular troll creatures.

So, whenever you get engaged in a pointless flame war with someone under a PA article, you can quickly soothe your nerves by blowing up a few hundred trolls in this timewaster.

The OfficeSuite family is one of the best document, spreadsheet and presentation apps for Android devices, and the new Font Package will allow you to view and edit countless docs you weren't able to before because of font and formatting incompatibilities.

Not as flashy or entertaining as the previous few apps, but those who actually get some work done on their Android device, will thoroughly appreciate now carrying a full Office in their pockets.

You can view these apps videos in Youtube.
